Our Double Oaked Whiskey has officially been awarded a Gold Medal at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC)! 🌟

The SFWSC is considered to be the most influential and prestigious spirits competition in the world with over 4,000 entries reviewed in a blind-tasting process conducted by a panel of spirits-industry experts. A Gold Medal signifies a spirit that is near the pinnacle of achievement in its category, setting the standard for all others of its type.

We flipped the script on the traditional double oak process by first aging our bourbon mashbill whiskey in a once used ex-bourbon barrel followed by an extensive finishing in a charred new American oak cask. This small batch releases features an exclusive selection of Sabbatical whiskey aged over 7 years with a novel approach to barrel maturation to create a uniquely nuanced expression that’s unlike any other.

Tasting Notes

  • Aroma: Warm vanilla, baked caramel, toasted oak, light baking spice, and subtle dried fruit.

  • Palate: Creamy caramel and butterscotch up front, deep toffee and dark chocolate mid-palate, with toasted oak, nutmeg, and baking spice accents.

  • Finish: Long, smooth, and slightly lingering with oak tannins, caramelized sugar, and a gentle spice warmth.

We are excited to announce our participation in Downtown Alameda’s 8th Annual Whiskey Stroll! Sip and stroll your way through Alameda’s historic downtown district tasting craft whiskeys on Friday, March 27th from 6:00-9:00pm. Enjoy an evening filled with premium whiskeys and entertainment while learning about the unique styles from the distillers.

You can find the Sabbatical team pouring our whiskeys with the fine folks at CRAFT Beer & Wine in Downtown Alameda. Visit us to sample our latest spirits and pick up a couple bottles from the premium curated selection at CRAFT!
