Help Save California Craft Distilleries!!
Show your support of small businesses like ours and keep access to small batch spirits alive — Action needed by August 17th, 2026!
California is about to eliminate the license that lets us ship spirits straight to you. Help keep direct shipping alive in the face of big money lobbyist opposition by taking one minute to voice your support.
Dear Friends of Sabbatical,
California consumers are about to lose the ability to buy spirits directly from many of their favorite craft distilleries. Without direct-to-consumer shipping, Californians will have fewer choices and will be pushed back toward the big national brands that dominate retail shelves. For many small California distilleries, this is not just about shipping. It could mean the difference between staying open and closing their doors.
Unless California lawmakers act by August 17, distilleries will lose the ability to ship spirits directly to consumers in 2027. That means customers will lose access to many of the California craft spirits they love unless they are able to travel directly to the distillery. We are asking lawmakers to support a solution that allows licensed California craft distilleries to continue shipping spirits directly to adult consumers with safeguards such as age verification, tax collection, and adult signature requirements, just as they have done safely and legally since 2020.
This is a David versus Goliath fight. Large national distributors have the money, lobbyists, and political influence in Sacramento to shut down direct-to-consumer shipping, even though many of them do not carry the small California craft distilleries that depend on it. Most craft distilleries are too small to compete for distributor attention against major national brands with large marketing budgets and guaranteed shelf movement. If these distributors will not carry small California craft distilleries, they should not be allowed to block consumers from buying directly from them.
Please take a moment to contact your legislators and ask them to support direct-to-consumer shipping for California craft distilleries and California consumers by using the pre-populated outreach form at the link below. You can make a difference, and we truly appreciate the support.
